Introduction:

Gizmo was created sometime in April 2007 by Leo Labron. Back then, we didn't use IPBFree and we were much, much different. All of my [Leo Labron] friends wanted somewhere on the internet where we could hang out since we all hated myspace. My good friend, Himoon10 was the one that actually got me inspired into making a website. He wanted a place where we could share pictures and stuff and when I told my friends that I was going to make a site for this, they begged to make room for more things. Zorexo7 wanted a spot for our RuneScape clan (I used to play that before) and my other friend, Carbon Lust who was moving wanted a spot so we can keep in touch. One little idea, turned out into Gizmo. As you can see, we've changed a whole lot and have inproved a lot, especially on June 16, 2007 when I released Gizmo on IPBFree to the public.* Even now, we keep changing as we get new ideas, interestes, members, and knowledge! We're moving in the right direction, as long as we all enjoy the fun :)

*IPBFree is the bomb hoster... If you don't believe me, then you might as well go eat yourself. Thats all I have to say as to why we switched hosters.

Forum Features:

Besides just the great forums alone, we have quite a few other things you'll enjoy using aswell. There are many things from games, contests, calendars, skins, and much more!

Space and Storage:

We have a lot of advantages because we use IPBFree. We have unlimited Posts, Topics, Forums, Uploades, and Members! Now you can't beat that! That also means we have unlimmited Storage and Bandwith! Just because we have all this freedom, doesn't meen you go around spamming, creating multiple accounts, and other such things which are oulined in the Rules.

User Groups and Ranks:

Here are all of the current user groups you could be a part of. There are some that are easy to get into and others that are almost impossible. Each User Group has their own Roles and Permissions as outlined in this chart.

Here are a list of Ranks that you could be a part of. As you can see, the more posts you have, the more difficult it is to get to the next rank. After achieving 1,500 posts, you can edit your Title/Rank by going to your control pannel.

Private Messaging:

Priavate Messaging (PM) is a great and easy way to communicate to members. Here is a chart showing how much Storage Space each User Group has.

Calendar:

You can take advantage of our simple yet powerful calendar! It can extend up to 5 years unlike the Calendar on your refrigirator. You can make a one day event, ranged event, as in it happens over a period of time, or a recurring event. Recurring Events recurr, for example every year (holidays) or weeks. Another reason why the "Cyber Calendar" is so powerful is because it allows you to use BB Codes, Smilies, and some HTML Codes.

Store:

The Store, or as we call it, the Gizmo Exchange is how you can use your Technos. Technos are what we call "credits" or money.

Here is how posting affects how much Technos you get:

Starting a Topic: 5 Technos
Starting a Poll: 3 Technos
Posting a Reply: 1 Techno
If Your Topic Becomes Hot: 50 Technos
Everone Starts Out with: 3 Technos

With your Technos, you can also buy the Key to the Labs which is an item that gives you the password to enter the Gizmo Testing Labs. As soon as you register, you already have enough Technos to buy that item! The Testing Labs are used for testing things and do not contribute to your post count.

Rules and Rights:

Here are some of the basic rules along with their penalties. Be sure to follow these rules!

I. Registering

• Information you input into the Registration form will be viewable to the public.
• Fill out the Account Information Form accuratly. You are able to edit this in your Control Pannel after registering too.
• One Account per person.
  -We will delete one of your accounts and the other will recieve a 10% warning level.

II. Posting

• Regular Mistakes
• Do Not Spam the Forums, Shoutbox, Calendar, or another Member's PM Storage. This means you send Short/Stupid, Pointless, Annoying, Messages.
  You will recieve a 5% warning level per post.
• Do Not Flood the Forums, Shoutbox, Calendar, or another Member's PM Storage. We also have flood control! This means sending messages extremly fast and ties in with Double Posting and Spam.
  -You will recieve a 5% warning level per post and this will add up quickly!
• Do Not Double Post as in saying the same thing over or repeating what other members have said.
  -A possible 5% warning level per post.
• Do Not Delete, Retype, Delete, and Retype a message. This is abusing a privilage we offer to most members, deleting posts.
  -We take this very seriously and you will recieve 5% warning level for each retyped post. Your post count will also be modified and you MAY not have access to delete your own posts.
• Please Post all topics in the correct forum. If you can't find a propper place to post it in, post it in Off Topic!
  -A 5% warning will be added onto you.
• Respect and Courtesy
• Respect the Forums, Staff, Members, and the Work done by the Members. You don't have to like it, just respect it.
  -Disrespecting any Staff member will result in a 25% warning and a possible temporary ban.
• Do Not Cyber Bully or Flame! Argue the Point, not the Person. If you need help resolving a conflict with another member, try contacting the Staff!
  -A minimum of 20% warning will be issued to you.
• Do Not say anything that is racist or offensive.
  -A minimum of 20% warning will be added onto you.
• Do Not try to bypass the word filters either!!!
  -We'll add that to the filters, and you'll recieve a 5% warning level but it depends...
• Content
• Whatever Info you post can be viewable to the public, so be cautious with sharing personal information.
• If you've posted something that contains Something Offensive in the forum of Audio, Video, Images, Text, etc. you Must Put a Warning in your Topic Title or Discription.
  -For this rule, the staff may remove it if it is out of hands and you may recieve an appropriate warning for it.
• Images must not be more than 700px by 600px if they are, either link to it or thumbnail it.
  -Your picture will be linked and you may recieve a 5% warning.
• You are only allowed to have 5 embedded videos per post. This allows the page to load faster.
  -Extra videos may be deleted or linked to and you might recieve a 5% warning for each extra video.
• Ripping and Illigal Material
• Ripping?
• Redistributing another person's work without their permission.
• Modifing another member's work without their permission. Even if you give full credit to them, you must get their permission to edit their work.
• Taking the Credit for something you did not do is also ripping.
• Removing or Modifing the Copyright is not allowed at all! If the matter is serious enough, you could be raped...
• Do Not post anything illegal such as Serials, Key generators, passwords, cheats, etc.

III. User Accounts

• One Account Per Person
  -We will delete one of your accounts and the other will recieve a 10% warning level.
• No Account Sharing and it is your responsibility to keep your account safe.
• Do Not Impersonate other people!
  -We have an option here, we can ban you or get Chuck Norris to jump you.
• Do Not Mini Mod (Backsead Moderate) and let the Mods to their job.
  -Congratulations! Instead of being promoted to a Moderator, you'll get screwed and get a 15% warning level added to you!
• Private Messaging
• Do Not use PMs to Advertise! Use your Signature for it!
  -You will recieve a 10% warning to each person you sent that PM to and you will also be temporarily banned.
• Do Not use the PMs to Threaten anyone.
  -We will issue a 15% warning level to you.
• All posting rules apply to PMs
• Signatures, including all images or text, cannot be more then 700px by 400px. Your Signature cannot be a massive load and it cannot be distracting.
  -You will have about 3 days to modify your signature, if you do not, we will delete some parts of it or edit it.
• Avatars cannot be larger than 125px by 125px and are not allowed to be distracting.
  -You will have about 3 days to change it before we edit or delete it.

IV. Other Rules

• Do Not ask a member of the staff to modify your post count, user group, rank, technos, donating items, etc.
  -You will recieve a warning level depending on how much you annoyed the staff member. If you keep messing, they'll just do the opposite of what you asked for!
• Do Not bomb Baron.
  -If you were unsuccessful, too bad! If you did succeed, we'll turn all of your technos to the negative side!

V. General Consequences

• Common Routine
1. First, you will recieve a Private Message that explains what you've done wrong and not to do it again.
2. Secondly, if you continue, you will get your warning level increased. You will recieve a PM explaining that you've done something wrong again and this is your chance to explain yourself.
3. Third, if you do not provide a valid explanation, you will face the penalties for that warning level.
4. Lastly, if you continue to be troublesome, you could be banned, suspended, or even IP Banned.
• If you recieve a PM from an Administrator regarding an explanation as to why you've done something wrong, you will have 3 days to reply to it.
• Usually, instead of suspending you right away, we usually put you into the Banned group where you still have access to the Board, but you will miss out on a lot of privilages.
• During Suspenion, your IP will also be banned so it prevents you from registering another account to access the Board.
• During Suspension, you still have the right to Private Message Leo Labron (leolabron@gmail.com) Antagonist (joshywashere@gmail.com) or Gizmo Admin (gizmoadmins@gmail.com)
• This can still be modified by any staff member depending on how serious the situation is.
